Voter Engagement Initiative

Purpose

The Voter Engagement Initiative (VEI) is a project that seeks to build IJC’s capability and capacity to support voter engagement activities as part of its activist portfolio. Key goals include:

• Develop voter engagement member-leaders who are able to operate autonomously as leaders of voter engagement activities.
• Provide training for tools like EveryAction, Empower, and ActBlue to increase the effectiveness of our outreach and fundraising.
• Develop organizational processes that support the ongoing creation and evolution of voter engagement activities as a permanent component of IJC’s activist capability.
• Identify voter engagement activities that can be effectively implemented in advance of the 2026 midterm elections.

EveryAction

EveryAction is a comprehensive customer-relationship-management platform that Indivisible National provides free to local chapters through a partnership with Bonterra and NGP VAN. It serves as our central database for member information, including contact records, engagement history, donations, event participation, and outreach activity.

For the Voter Engagement Initiative, EveryAction is the foundation for our member outreach. It lets us send targeted emails, organize phonebanks, manage event signups, and track engagement over time, so our work reaches the right people with the right message.

Empower

Empower is a mobile app for relational organizing, the practice of reaching people through trusted personal relationships rather than cold outreach. Volunteers use the app to send calls to action and information to friends, family, and neighbors who are far more likely to engage when they hear from someone they trust.

By placing the Empower app on your home screen and enabling notifications, you’ll receive calls to action that you can pass along to your own network. Together we can scale the work of engaging voters and driving action ahead of the 2026 midterms.

How You Can Help

This initiative needs people to make it happen! We’re looking for:

• Action team leaders to help organize and coordinate voter engagement activities
• Volunteers to participate in training, join action teams, and help with outreach
