No Kings 3: From a Moment to a Movement

Thank you to everyone who braved the chilly winds to come out for No Kings 3 last Saturday. We recently picked up this action items card at Kitty Corner Social Club, a local Iowa City business that supports progressive causes. It’s a simple, practical list of things anyone can do today, and we wanted to share it more widely.

Know Your Rights: Cards You Can Print and Carry

Everyone in the United States has constitutional rights, regardless of immigration status. But in a stressful encounter with law enforcement or immigration agents, it can be hard to remember exactly what to say. That’s the idea behind Know Your Rights cards: small, printable cards you can keep in your wallet and hand to an officer if you need to.

No Kings 2: Iowa City Did It Again

On October 18, 2025, over a thousand people filled the Pentacrest and marched through downtown Iowa City for No Kings 2. The rally was part of a nationwide movement that brought millions of people into the streets across all 50 states. Data journalist G. Elliott Morris estimated turnout at 5 to 6.5 million and called it “very likely the biggest single-day protest event since 1970.”

No Kings Day: Johnson County Showed Up

On June 14, 2025, Flag Day, Johnson County answered the call. While the regime staged a made-for-TV spectacle in Washington, real power was on display everywhere else. No Kings Day was a nationwide day of defiance, and our community turned out in force.

Hands Off: Iowa City Turned Out in Force

On April 5, 2025, more than 1,000 people filled the streets of downtown Iowa City for the Hands Off rally. It was one of thousands of protests held nationwide that day, and Johnson County’s turnout sent an unmistakable message: this community will not stand by while our rights and public institutions are dismantled.
